About Us

Bride View Bar

The Bride View Bar & Restaurant situated on Tallow bridge overlooking the river bride has one of the most idyllic settings in Ireland. The main building, which stands proud adjacent to the bridge, was once the hunting lodge of the Duke of Devonshire. The Costello family, Noel and his wife Annemarie took over as proprietors of the Bride View in 1998 and have managed to transform this spot into a classy and relaxing eatery along with keeping the old style bar atmosphere that Ireland is so famous for.

One can sit in the bar in front of an open fire and enjoy a glass of Murphy's Irish stout with half a dozen oysters, or dine in the contemporary styled conservatory overlooking Tallowbridge, or if one fancies eating out doors, a cleverly designed decking has been added out over the river Bride from the restaurant. Enjoy your own chosen Lobster with the pick of a carefully researched wine list, or home roasted Duck and Local Venison.

A new "back bar" has been opened up and a gorgeous old fire place exposed which gives the bar two open fire places that has a plentiful supply of local mountain turf to keep it roaring. Here you'll find the house library with quite a mix of titles for the traveller to read a little, mark the page to return at some point to finish the story!

The conservatory restaurant has panoramic views of the mountains and the Bride river. Four large watercolours by Tobias Hobson hang on the only wall surrounded by floor to ceiling glass windows. Noel, Annemarie their restaurant manager & team will looks after your needs and ensure a personnel touch. We are always on hand to accommodate and advise with the menu choice and wine selection.

In the garden one can see some of the oldest varieties of apple trees & fruit bushes, Jellies, jams, crumbles and chutneys are made from there delicious fruits and used in house and are also sold in the Brideview Food Shop located in the old stables.

Tallow Bridge is only three miles from the heritage town of Lismore, a recipient of Ireland's Tidiest Town award. It is within an easy drive of Waterford city (one hour) and Cork city (half an hour).
